Stranded On The Road Tips

Stranded On The Road Tips

No matter what type of RV you may be driving or how well you have planned out your journey, you never know when you may become stranded on the side of the road for an indefinite amount of time. Whether you’ve experienced a breakdown, run out of gas, or encountered bad road conditions, this nightmare scenario for any traveller can happen out of nowhere. This is something to keep in mind every time you take your RV rental on the road. Hopefully it will never happen to you, but you should always be prepared just in case.

If the worst should happen and you do end up stranded on the road, you should keep the following survival tips in mind.

Non Perishable Food

This may sound like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how many travellers end up stranded without the proper supplies. No matter what type of journey you’re on or where you may be heading, always make sure to take some non-perishable food and keep it stashed in a safe place. This may seem like a non-issue when you first set out on your journey, but if you find yourself having to spend some time broken down in an isolated area, you will know why it’s important and appreciate the fact that you did.

Chargers

The first thing you are going to want to do when you become stranded is call for help. Of course you will not be able to do this if your phone isn’t fully charged. You will want to be able to get online and look up repair services, check how far away you are from the nearest gas station or town, and alert family members or friends of your predicament. You will need devices in order to do this, so it is a good idea to invest in a multi-port charger so you can have all of them charged up and ready to go.

Basic Tools

The difference between being stranded for a long period of time and making a few fixes and being on your way comes down to the proper tools. If you’re having tire trouble, for example, a few quick adjustments will get you back on the road in no time. The same goes for minor engine trouble and other non-fatal issues that come up. A small issue can turn into quite a nightmare if you don’t have what you need, so always keep the basics stored in your rig.

Warm Clothing

Even if you’re traveling in the dead of summer, you should always throw a long sleeve shirt, jacket, warm socks, and pants into your travel supplies. It may not seem like a major need when you’re packing up the RV in the heat of the summer, but should you become stranded on the road in the dead of night, with the temperature dropping fast, you will surely be glad that you packed them.

When it comes to travelling, it is all about fun and adventure. But the time could come where the fun stops and you become stranded. This is why you should prepare yourself by making sure you have these items just in case.
